In continuation of part two.

Ephesians 5:27

That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish.

Lust of the eyes

Lust of the eyes is a strong desire to look upon or have what you should not have. It is a strong desire towards what God has told you not to have or look upon.

Today the Church has fallen from grace glorifying and pursuing what God forbids. Fallen to whatever appeals to the eyes. Driven by the desire to please our sense of sight in its carnality.

Stealing, embezzlement, fraud which are a product of lust of the eyes are prevalent in churches these days. Ushers stealing from offering because of the need to live as others are living- with a big phone, cars etc. In the lust of the eyes, the desire to meet up with the living standard of others in the church becomes a priority over the expectations of God from us.

The lust of the eyes is difficult to fight because we cannot shut our eyes (both inner and outer). The lust in our eyes will always draw us.

According to James 1:14 "But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed"

Based on this scripture there is a lust in every man's eyes. This lust came into being from the time of the fall of man. Genesis 3:7 & 22 described the birth of lust as "their eyes were open" and " to know good and evil".

For the church to be without spot or wrinkle this lust must be demobilised. To do this the Church must focus on vital doctrinal teachings to aid understanding of the foundational truth of Christianity. Understanding of these critical areas are essential:

1. Salvation

2. Sanctification

3. Dedication

4. Righteousness and

5. Holiness.

In all let us come boldly to the throne of grace that we may obtain spiritual help to conquer the lust in our eyes. Pouring out our heart to him in all sincerity.

We must stand firm to fight this lust through the help of the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit purges us deeply and set us ablaze to conquer the lust. Allow the Holy Spirit in you today to position yourself to overcome the lust of the eyes.

Declaration

Father set me ablaze by the Holy Spirit, purge me and I will be clean that I may conform only to the will of God.
