Psalm 37:37
Mark the perfect man, and behold the upright: for the end of that man is peace.
The demand of God from us this season is perfection. Many people have queried the demand for perfection as preached by men of God claiming man can not be perfect because of our nature as man.
My answer to this query is that if a man can not be perfect God will never demand it. God is demanding perfection from us because He that created us knows that we can be perfect.
Mathew 5:48 Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect.
In this scripture, it was Jesus that was telling the people that they should be perfect just like God.
What is this perfection that is demanded by Jesus?
Perfection is the highest attainable state or degree of excellence or a flawless state where everything is exactly right.
Looking at perfection from Jesus's perspective means we as God's children should reflect His perfection. What is His perfection?
1. Perfect in Love. I John 4:8&16
2. Perfect in words or integrity. Mathew 24:25, Psalm 33:11.
3. Perfect in holiness. Psalm 99:9, I Peter 1:15-16.
4. Perfect in mercy. Deuteronomy 4:31
5. Perfect in faithfulness II Timothy 2:13, Deuteronomy 7:9.
So we as God's children are expected to mimic our father in the five states of perfection outlined.
Still looking at perfection from Jesus's perception perfection can be defined as a state of attaining the highest level of divine nature of excellence. It is the nature that we receive that drives us to be like Him.
I Corinthians 13:10 But when the complete and perfect (total) comes, the incomplete and imperfect will vanish away (become antiquated, void, and superseded).
Jesus came into our lives for the incomplete and imperfect to give way in our life. So as we continue in Christ Jesus - we shall be like Him who is the perfect nature of God came in the human body.
