Psalm 37:37

Mark the perfect man, and behold the upright: for the end of that man is peace.

In the first part of this series, we established that Perfection is the highest attainable state or degree of excellence or a flawless state where everything is exactly right.

• God demanded perfection from Abraham Genesis 17:1-2 And when Abram was ninety years old and nine, the Lord appeared to Abram, and said unto him, I am the Almighty God; walk before me, and be thou perfect. And I will make my covenant between me and thee, and will multiply thee exceedingly.

• Jesus demanded perfection from us. Mathew 5:48 Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect.

How can I be perfect?

How can I be faultless?

How can I attain the highest level of divine nature of excellence?

How can I attain excellence in all things?

We can only attain Perfection when we no longer exist, but He is the one existing in us. This is because our nature is sinful. In perfection, we say we live in Him, speak in Him, act in Him etc.

Act 17:28 For in him we live, and move, and have our being; as certain also of your own poets have said, For we are also his offspring.

The first path to perfection is Faith. The scriptures in Hebrews 12:1-4 defines the kind of faith that is required to attain perfection- Enduring Faith.

Hebrews 12:1-4 Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us. Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God. For consider him that endured such contradiction of sinners against himself, lest ye be wearied and faint in your minds. Ye have not yet resisted unto blood, striving against sin.

The verses in this scripture reveal how Jesus attain perfection to become the author of salvation (Hebrews 5:9). He attain perfection through Enduring Faith.

What is Enduring Faith? Enduring Faith is the faith that continues despite obstacles or hardship. Faith that absorbs and last.

The journey to perfection is like a marathon race. In a marathon race, it is not the person that believes he will finish the race that does but the person that believes, believes and keep believing in an odd situation and continues to absorb the surprises, unexpected and rigours to finish the race. Believe is not enough in this race because it does not always go as expected.

In Hebrews 12:1 KJV as earlier captured the scripture used the word patience-...let us run with patience. The word patience relates to endurance. The amplified version of this verse put the word "...and let us run with patient endurance and steady and active persistence the appointed course of the race that is set before us,"

Dearly beloved, we have a tough time on the path to perfection you must develop Enduring faith to stand the test of perfection. Jesus is an example for us all to see, the scripture confirms that He learnt obedience by the things He suffered (Hebrews 5:8) and resisted unto blood (Luke 22:44). Are you ready for the race?
