But I keep under my body and bring it into subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway.
Every Christian has to keep watch because our adversary the devil is going to and fro looking for whom to devour.
How watchful are you?
This question has been coming to me- Can a born-again Christian miss heaven? What can make a born-again Christian miss heaven? To personalize it - What can make me miss heaven? (We will not miss heaven Jesus' name)
1. Insensitivity: insensitivity is when one is not taking cognisance of things that matter. When you no longer pay attention to what is needful to keep you going in the race. When you are becoming careless about the devil's antics.
• Insensitivity about your prayer life.
• Insensitivity about your relationship with the person of the Holy Spirit.
• Insensitivity about your soul/mind.
• Insensitivity to instructions from God and spiritual leaders. 1Corinthians 10:12.
2. Relaxation: When you become relaxed about your service as a Christian. There is no sense of urgency about pleasing God. Spending more time on pleasure and seeking convenience at all times in your service and relationship with God.
Luke 8:14, 1Timothy 5:6.
3. Indiscipline: Lack of discipline is suicidal to a Christian. Inability to discipline your eyes (lust of the eyes), feelings or body (lust of the flesh) and emotions (pride of life). 1Corinthians 9:27.
5. Character flaw: Faith without character is like food without salt. When your character is unbecoming as a Christian you are on the path to hell. There are character flaws such as anger, violence, bad attitude, lack of tolerance, rigidity, abuse etc. 2Peter 1:5.
6. Break in the flow with the holy Spirit: The Holy Spirit is God's provision to take us to heaven. Any disconnection from him is dangerous. He is the joy of our salvation that will keep us bubbling and ablaze until we get to heaven. Psalm51:12.
All this has a possibility of making a born-again Christian miss heaven if we do not pay attention to them. Therefore if you are keen on making it to heaven you must recognise and take into consideration these five factors.
The Lord will help you to humble yourself to carry out a self-examination that will help you to consider these factors in Jesus' name.
