I am happy to stand before you today on a day that will go down in history as a day of re-discovery. More than 2000 years ago Jesus Christ in whom we stand today pay the ultimate price to secure us a FUTURE. His death opens up a new chapter for us. It was the beginning of a new Covenant- a chapter of freedom. A covenant that brought freedom... ... brought life to replace death. John 3:16 ... brought light to replace darkness. Act:26:18, Colossians 1:13. ... brought sonship to replace slavery. John 1:12, Galatians 4:6. ... brought health to replace sickness. Exodus 15:26. ... brought riches to replace poverty. 2 Corinthians 8:9. ... brought blessing to replace curse. Galatians 3:13. This covenant came as a breakthrough that is long-awaited, however many years since this covenant/new chapter was opened God's children are still not free... Two thousand years later God's children are still badly crippled by the nature of the old life. God's children are still languishing in poverty and shame in the midst of the vast ocean of prosperity. In a sense today we want to cash a check- a cheque which Christ put in our hand by his death. The cheque was to bring us into our right, our right as an heir. An heir, that means the inheritor. It is obvious today that many are yet to claim their cheque. Living in the opposite of what Christ delivered to us. The world has defrauded us it has denied us of our right. Our affinity with the word has put in our hand a bad check. A check that has come back marked "insufficient funds". But today we have come to free ourselves from the shackles of the world. We have come to declare to our slave master (world/devil) the urgency of now. There is no time to take the tranquillizing drug of gradualism. Now is the time to stand for what is our right. Now is the time to stand firm and enforce our right, let the world know that it is not business as usual. NO LONGER BUSINESS AS USUAL. No more peace until we enter into God's promise. Mathew 11:12. Let us declare that... ...we are no longer a slave to sin. ... life is our portion in redemption ... diseases and sickness are not our birthrights. ... poverty does not have a place in us. ... curse has been uprooted we are no longer cursed. ...we have received light to shine. Isaiah 61:1. Let hold up our faith and not wallow in the valley of despair. Friends, even though we face the difficulties of today and tomorrow, I still have a dream. It is a dream deeply rooted in the believer's dream. • A dream that one day we shall no longer struggle with sin. • A dream that one day we will live in divine health. • A dream that one day the abundance of the sea shall be ours and we shall live in great riches. • A dream that one day we shall not be held down by family curses, spiritual wickedness from our source. • A dream that one day we shall become a blessing. • A dream that one day we shall do greater works. • A dream that one day we shall live in joy, happiness and love. I have a dream today...I have a dream that one day the valley shall be exalted, every hill and mountain shall be made low. The rough places will be made plain, and the crooked places will be made straight. And the glory of the Lord shall be revealed and all flesh shall see it together. Isaiah 40:4-5. I have a dream that one day we shall see the lord, and when we shall see him we shall be like him (1 John 3:2). I have a dream that one day we shall sing the song free at last, free at last, Great God almighty, we are free at last.
To connect truly to this dream you need to be a Christian...a Christian is someone who has given his or her life to Jesus (John 3:16, Acts 37:39), duly broken, lead by the Holy Spirit (Romans 8:14, II Corinthians 5:14-17), transformed in character (IIPeter1:5, Philippians 4:8), carries the cross daily (Luke 9:23, Hebrews 12:2-4) and heavenly focus (Mark 12:31-33). Remember Christianity is a personal and private work with God.
