Psalm 94:20 AMP

Shall the throne of iniquity have fellowship with You–they who frame and hide their unrighteous doings under [the sacred name of] law?

Iniquity is the bane of our existence in this world as Christians. The world itself has been tagged “The World of iniquity”

We live on a daily basis in the world of iniquity. How are we going to be delivered? What is iniquity? What is the mystery behind it? How do I get delivered from it? How do I create a world free of iniquity for myself?

This and many more are the questions to be addressed today.

What is Iniquity?

Iniquity in the Hebrew is “`avon” and means “to bend, twist, distort” so iniquities are bending, twisting, or distorting of the law or God’s Word to different degrees worthy of punishment.

Iniquity is clearly a state of the consistent transgression of the law of God. It is a state of consistent denial of the sovereignty of God.

David as a case study: He committed the first sin and then persisted in it.

• Committed sin by lusting after Bathsheba

• Committed adultery by sleeping with her.

• Then continued to hide and remain in the sin.

• He conspired to get Bathseba's husband killed

• He killed him and took his wife.

The degrees of David’s disobedience grew and grew as he continued committing greater and greater iniquities so iniquity refers to a willful, knowing transgression of God’s law where one’s desires start to dominate the person’s life as it did In David’s life.

Origin and nature

Iniquity was born the day Adam and Eve ate the forbidden fruit: he is a spiritual being that is present in the soul of man. Genesis 3:1-9.

By the advent of sin a spiritual being was born which is perpetually in the flesh of man battling to gain control.

Romans 7:23 KJV But I see another law in my members, warring against the law of my mind, and bringing me into captivity to the law of sin which is in my members.

Our fight against iniquity is not a fight with flesh and blood, it is a fight against a spiritual body. A body in the flesh. It is the other law in our mind bringing us into the captivity to keep sinning. For every man in the flesh, they are subject to the dictate of this body. However, for anyone who has submitted himself to be immersed in the spirit is born anew not to be subjected to the dictate of iniquity.

How to be delivered

• Submit yourself under the mighty hand of God by giving your life to Jesus.

• Plead the blood of Jesus that was shed for the remission of your sin.

• Be born of the spirit. He that is born of the spirit is born of God. John 3:3&5, I John 3:9.

I John 3:9 Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God.

• Keep fighting by self-discipline. 1 Corinthians 9:26-27 KJVI therefore so run, not as uncertainly; so fight I, not as one that beateth the air: But I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway.

Take a decision today. Do you want to be delivered? Or do you want to continue in iniquity?

The end of continuing in iniquity is disastrous. Make up your mind to take the step towards your deliverance.
