Hebrews 4:7 Amp.
Again He sets a definite day, [a new] Today, [and gives another opportunity of securing that rest] saying through David after so long a time in the words already quoted, Today, if you would hear His voice and when you hear it, do not harden your hearts.
Mathew 11:28 KJV.
Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
REST literally means to cease work or movement in order to relax, sleep, or recover strength. The rest that Jesus Christ offers means: (Job11:14-20, Psalm 95:11, Isaiah 14:3, Isaiah 11:10)
1. A cease of burdens (spiritual & physical).
2. An end to a raging sickness and uncomfortable situation.
3. Peace of mind
4. No more fear
5. Achieving or entering into God's promise.
6. No more wars or battle. Your enemies will be discomfited and put in a perpetual loss position.
7. You are put in a position of authority over your enemies and situation.
8. You become engraced to the extent that you control affairs around you.
9. Enter into the place Christ has prepared for us - Heavenly home.
The promise of REST is for all and its in two phases - on earth and after death. Only those who will believe in Him will receive and enter into this rest.
Many left Egypt but only a few got to the promised land (the place of Rest). Why? According to Hebrew 4:2 "For unto us was the gospel preached, as well as unto them: but the word preached did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in them that heard it".
You have heard, read and see the power of God and the wonder-working name of Jesus to save and deliver. How are you connecting to enter into the REST that Jesus offers you?
You need Faith so that you will not fall short of His promise:
1. Faith to follow Him.
2. Faith to submit to Him.
3. Faith to wait on Him.
4. Faith to depend on Him.
5. Faith to trust Him.
These faiths were lacking in the Israelites that was why many of them could not make it to the promised land (the place of Rest). If you will enter into rest you must be ready to follow Him consistently, submit to Him totally, wait on Him diligently, depend on Him steadfastly, trust Him with all your heart.
Just as I am challenging you, I am also challenging myself that there is REST and I can enter into it by Faith. Where is your FAITH?
