THERE IS REST IV

In the first part of this series, it was established that for us not to miss out of God's promise of REST we need Faith. According to Hebrews 4:2 "For unto us was the gospel preached, as well as unto them: but the word preached did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in them that heard it"

We established four faith that will help us not to fall short of His promise of REST as:

1. Faith to follow Him.

2. Faith to submit to Him.

3. Faith to wait on Him.

4. Faith to depend on Him.

5. Faith to trust Him.

We have dealt with Faith to follow and Faith to submit. In this part, we will be dealing with the faith to wait on Him. 

Faith to Wait on God

Literally, to Wait means to stay where one is or delay action until a particular time or event. It also means to remain stationary in readiness or expectation. 

Wait on God means looking unto God with an expectation of receiving. Over time we have seen that waiting can be difficult because we are always eager for immediate attention. The Father of faith Abraham at some point while waiting called unto God after several promises, Genesis 15:2 And Abram said, Lord God, what wilt thou give me, seeing I go childless, and the steward of my house is this Eliezer of Damascus? Father Abraham also shook while waiting because he was human. However, he remains the greatest example of waiting on God from the Bible. What is the Faith to wait on Him:

1. To keep looking on God in prayers. Mathew 7:7, your level of prayer grows from asking to seeking and then to knocking. When you knock you wait till he opens.

2. To keep your heart and spirit in tune to hear from Him. Abraham's heart was in tune that was why he was able to identify the strangers as special people to be entertained. Then God spoke Him.

3. To keep praising and pleasing Him. Psalm 22:23, Hebrews 11:5.

In this three faith factor lies the key to waiting on God. Many people have failed to enter into the Rest that God offers because of the lack of Faith to wait on Him. They give up before time. Just like our father Abraham be consistent with your request, keep an open heart and spirit to hear him when he speaks, and continue to worship, praise Him in the beauty of His holiness; do everything that you know will please Him. And then without fail he will bring you into the REST that he planned for you.
